School Notes.
It was with great regret that we heard of the death of Mrs. Belilios in November of last year. Her husband, the Hon. Mr. E. R. Belilios, built and furnished our school, which bears his name, and presented it to the Government in 1893. It was thus through his generosity that the education of girls was fostered in this Colony, and with the death of Mrs. Belilios a link between the school and its founder has been severed.
In her memory the flag was lowered to half-mast on the school day following that of her death.
The school crest which is used for the first time on the cover of the Belilios Journal is one which has been designed for us by Mr. G. P. de Martin, Inspector of Schools.
We offer him our most grateful thanks for it and for the others that he offered us as alternatives, and feel sure that the one chosen will appeal in the simplicity of its design to the students of Belilios, especially as it is well fitted for adaptation to a school badge. Having gained a school crest we are now ambitious for badges to wear.
Lady Clementi visited the school on Thursday, February 17th. She saw the whole school at work and examined the drawings which are the work of the girls and which adorned each classroom. Before departing Lady Clementi gave us a holiday in honour of her visit.

The students of Queen's College made a very friendly gesture to the senior classes of Belilios by inviting them fo their Annual Sports on Saturday, April 2nd. Quite a number of the girls made the journey to Causeway Bay, and came away full of pride bearing two prizes, for in addition to their usual competitions the Queen's College students arranged a special Ladies' Nomination thread-the-needle race. The race "consisted for the girls in holding the needle, but as everyone who has tried it knows, that can be quite as nerve- racking and exciting as running in the quarter-mile. The two who won prizes were awarded an ivory trinket box and an ivory photograph frame. The girls thoroughly enjoyed the sports and are full of gratitude to the Head Master of Queen's and the sports officials for their kindness in inviting them. Incidentally the girls are filled with ambitions for an Annual Sports' Day at Belilios-some day.

Prize Distribution and Chinese Play.
Prize Day this year was held on Wednesday, January 26th, and an especially busy day it was in view of the fact that a Chinese play was performed as well. We are unfor- tunate in Belilios in possessing no Assembly Hall in which to celebrate occasions such as this, but through the generosity of Mr. Crook, the Head Master of Queen's College, we were given the use of the College Hall both for the prize-giving and the play.
The distribution of Prizes took place in the morning, and a few parents and friends of the girls attended; the greater number of guests came in the afternoon to see the Chinese play. At the morning ceremony Mr. A. E. Wood, Director of Education, presented the prizes, while there were also present Mr. Yu Wan and Mr. Y. P. Law, Inspectors of Vernacular Schools. There were two innovations this year; the Head Mistress' Report was first read in English by Miss Skinner, and then in Chinese by the Senior Vernacular Mistress, Miss Hung. Hitherto the report has been read in English only. A copy of the Chinese translation will be
